Milan Central Station is the main railway station of Milan. After that of Rome Termini, is the second station of Italian for passenger flow as well as being one of the main railway stations in Europe. It opened in 1931st place of the old central station that stood in Piazza della Repubblica, become insufficient due to the increase of rail traffic, over the years the Milan Central station was the subject of major restoration and renovation works. The station does not have an architectural style defined, but is a mixture of different styles, especially Liberty and Art Deco. The facade is large 200 meters and the ceiling is high 72. Behind the facade, parallel to it runs the “Coach Gallery”. The large public spaces of the station (head gallery, central ticket and the Carriage Gallery) recalling the Roman monumental architecture; despite presenting with a large monumental they are made with economy of means: the upper parts of the walls are decorative concrete coating that mimics marble Bottoms, great times are not structural, but it hung and the decorative elements are in plaster (friezes of the Ticket, panels with zodiac symbols) or cement (statue, protomi leonine etc…) . the binary 21 is the “Royal room”, the waiting room of the Savoy family and the court, divided into royal hall and armory. Today the plant management is entrusted to the Italian Railway Network (RFI), while commercial areas of the monumental passenger building are the responsibility of Large Stations. in November 2010 the airport was dedicated to Saint Frances Cabrini.
